Hi all, our leaders are exploring the possibility of joining the IAGP as an organizational affiliation, in addition to encouraging us to join as individuals.
Indeed, Esme Pitel asked when we were last members as an organization and why did we drop this affiliation?
I don't know the answer. We'll need to ask someone who was involved with the executive council in the past, maybe the waaaay past. I don't remember if or when the ASGPP as an organization was ever an organizational "member" of the IAGP-- indeed, I didn't remember that the IAGP had whole organizations as members.
So I appreciate our ASGPP leaders in probing this initiative.
If we do join as an organization, I have a number of ideas about how we should participate as an organization in order to get our money's worth.
... and also reasons why it's probably a good idea--but only if we follow up with these adjunctive actions. Just belonging won't do all that much for the ASGPP except transfer some of our money to the IAGP.
So please ask anyone who was on the Exec Council in the past. Warmly, Adam Blatner, M.D.
p.s., I just re-posted a slightly updated listing of books in psychodrama and drama therapy that are available with new prices--some of them actually lower!--from Jessica Kingsley. I also encouraged this publisher to advertise in our newsletter and conference brochure.
