The purpose of this email is to bring to your attention a weekend workshop I am running at Boughton Place in New York State in September (details below).



 Particpants will have the chance to sharpen their dramatic listening skills, as well as to become alive to the societal dimensions of psychodrama (as emphasized in my keynote at the psychodrama conference). I will be wearing my TEP psychodramatist hat--this is not a playback theatre workshop--but students will learn how certain playback skills can enhance their effectiveness as psychodrama directors.

Circle of Life, a psychodrama workshop


Some problems are personal and some interpersonal, while others reach beyond both domains, for instance, when current and historical events dominate our lives. Still others are situated in the spiritual realm. This psychodrama workshop will give protagonists a chance to express the full range of their stories, and student directors a chance to develop their listening and staging skills in the direction of expanded subject matter. For psychodrama and playback theatre practitioners, this workshop will provide new skills in the staging of deep stories. It will also offer anyone new an intro into the power of personal interactive theatre. Prerequisite: None

Jonathan Fox, TEP has been a certified psychodramatist since 1975. He is the founder of Playback Theatre and the author of Acts of Service: Spontaneity, Commitment, Tradition in the Nonscripted Theatre and the editor of The Essential Moreno: Writings on Spontaneity, Psychodrama and Group Method.
