Carole,

All the topics you mention can be sculpted in front of the group. You
can use students, as well as props to do the sculpting. It's easy and
involves enough action to make it interesting but not so much that you
are obligated to do a drama or something else.

Development through the lifespan, for instance can be sculpted, starting
with babyhood and into old age, with small groups of people taking part
in each mini-scuplture.

I've also scuplted the differences between Dr. Moreno -- standing on a
chair (the stage) and drawing groups of other people forward -- and Dr.
Freud -- patient on couch, with Freud behind.

You can also break the group into small groups and have them do their
own sculpting.

Good luck!

Subject: Carole oliver: suggestions needed for my college course

Hello Colleagues,

I will be teaching a Intro to Psychology course at Montclair state
University to freshman in sept the class has 100 students and is
supposed to be best as a lecture class.
However, I have always taught action methods in the grad program with
20-35 students and was able to make it interactive.
Can you give me any suggestions on how to utilize break out groups,
interactive exercises, etc with this may students.
the chapter topics are:
developing thru the life span, therapy, abnormal psych, emotions, nature
vs nurture, and others.
I am not .looking for exercises do the spec chapters obviously but how
to involve the class in learning thru interaction.

any suggestions would help. I am really looking for any sociometric, or
interactive techniques that can be used with such a large class.

Thank you so much
