Suggestions for college courses

Carole, Kaya and all...I taught practice courses in
direct work with individuals, families and groups,
life span development, and some very specialized
seminars in how to work in protective services for
children, and trauma work with adults, in a social
work program for 25 years! As soon as I discovered
psychodrama in l974, I began to find ways to
incorporate action pieces into the work. I can
suggest old movies--I used "Ordinary People", "The
Milagro Beanfield War", "Powwow Highway", were a few,
and had the class see the movie, then different groups
took on the roles of the characters in the movies
while other groups took on the roles of
interventionists in some form. Worked great! Also,
using the target social atom--Kaya, I know you have
that in some of the stuff I've handed out--and have
each person do the simple charting indicating which
for them are Sabelli & Sabelli's "choices of the
heart" vs "submission to necessity", to illustrate the
reworking of choices made at different developmental
places. Browse Dan Siegel's books--his "Parenting
from the Inside Out" would give a whole new meaning to
how to parent for the "whole child". I'll be glad to
consult more on things to do for different
developmental stages--I made up a Monopoly game for
the class to play around aging. There was an
excellent year by year book on children from birth to
end of adolescence, don't know if there is a current
edition--"These are Your Children". I'll think more
about it, as there are many things to do in action and
many folks have already offered great ideas. Georgia
