I think we're talking about two different things here -- using a batch
of e-mail addresses in the "to" address box or hiding them to other
message receivers in the "bcc" address box. For me, it's annoying to
have to wade through a long list of e-mail addresses to get to the
message itself. And, as Bud says, some people may not want their e-mail
addresses publicly used --- that's one of the reasons we use list
serves.
 
I'd definitely like to see this list as a place for people to annouce
their workshops and other programs, etc. I appreciate the opportunity to
announce AND I like knowing what's going on elsewhere -- whether for
referrals for requests I get, or simply to keep me connected to who's
doing what.

has a purpose and posting workshops doesn't fit into its aims.
