Dear Manuela,
I found only one publication connected to psychotherapy but no link to
psychodrama, maybe we need another term for that.
Warmly
Michael

AB: Contends that critical life experiences which change a person's
sense of identity may not be assimilated emotionally until 1-2 yrs
later. For example, widows may not accept their new status until a year
of mourning has passed. Observations of prisoners of war and soldiers
indicate difficulty in resuming autonomous activities for a period after
the war ends. In educational institutions, students in 3-yr programs
manifest the greatest degree of personal dissatisfaction 18 mo before
completing their programs, which suggests that institutions should
structure the 1st 2 yrs so that personal orientation is emphasized more
than technical expertise. In industrial organizations, people who
receive promotions may have difficulty in discharging their new
responsibilities because their new identities have not become
internalized. In psychotherapy, awareness of the incubation period for
personality change is particularly important; it implies that the
effectiveness of the therapeutic process may not be adequately assessed
at the point of termination. The way in which awareness of this delay
may affect the therapist's attitudes toward treatment is briefly
considered. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2006 APA, all rights
