Dear Rosalie et al,
Young children who are encouraged and given the opportunity will play sociodramatic roles without much help from adults...the problem is that they aren't given the time or the space to do so. Whether it's let's play school or let's play house or let's play doctor...oops, I guess that last one doesn't quite count!

I think in order to have children role play the social roles the teacher must be taught how to creatively allow the kids to interact sociometrically.
My granddaughter Olivia is 4 years old...with the birth of her new brother a month ago she is offered an opportunity to be a sister, be it role playing with her doll or interacting with her family, as they teach her appropriate behaviors.
  Lets talk more.
  Rosalie
