oppression?

Yes, Bud, of course you're right. The different approaches are really different. But in their similarities we can discern some possibilities for how we may be able to learn from them, and perhaps ways that we may even be useful additions to their approaches. I'm all for this inter-disciplinary influencing and breaking of boundaries where it's useful. Yet I'm not suggesting that we deny the differences, either.
An interesting element in contemporary oppression, especially in the West. The oppressor is often invisible, not clearly identifiable. Who is driving the forces of anorexia, of compulsive thinness, pathological skinny-ness in models? Is it the peer group, the clothes designers, the magazines, the latent pedophiles who want to deny women their voluptuosity, the backwash of the Duchess of Windsor and her line, "One can never be too rich or too thin," the men who are fantasized as desiring only the thinnest of women, the fashion models? There are many supermodels who might deny they are oppressed.
And so forth.
Warmly, Adam

Subject: Re: Family Constellation
Augusto Boal's Tableau certainly allows for a great deal of participation by those attending the session as do most of his processes. With multiple doubling, much can be discovered and tried out and even abreacted. However, these are all done in the context of an oppressor and the oppressed by and large at least in the work that I have done with Boal's people.
In family constellation work, it seems that abreaction is not stressed and in fact doesn't have much room except a bit by the standin for the protagonist during the initial stages until the constellation moves much further forward toward resolution. Huge difference.
I really think that the two forms are used for quite different purposes. I look foward to hearing from those who have a lot of experience in doing the constellations as to their assay of the differences between Boal's super sociodramatic work ( which can get into personal specifics) vs Family Constellation work especially Transgenerational ones.
