Adam, I spoke with Nick about this and I also suggested a luncheon or afternoon tea to welcome new cp's and perspective cp's
I think he was receptive to the idea.----- Original Message -----

Subject: new directory
I was looking through the new directory of CPs and TEPs, and thought a number of things:
1. What if some of us would call two or three people in their region and welcome new folks or find out what happened to those whom they haven't seen for a while?
Sometimes magic can happen. I just had a great encounter with a fellow who'd been "out" for a number of years and was on the edge of coming "back in."
2. What if some of us would host a luncheon or something--especially the regional get-togethers-- and make a telephone tree personal call to all the cps and teps in the area, inviting them, asking what they've been up to, filling them in on things--
the existence of grouptalk a n opportunity to network
3. Even in the new directory there are email addresses that have changed since they were sent in to the ABE re-up list. So sometimes phoning becomes necessary.
4. There are a few mistakes--so check your listing and those of folks you know.
5. Are there small networks with key people who are not on grouptalk? So, say, if there was some juicy and relevant news item, how long would it take for folks you know to find out?. Is there any subgroup or network of folks who will pass along especially important news?
And what about just re-inviting people every 6 months or a year? Sometimes gentle persistence communicates that there are actually folks out there who care about you, want you to share what you've been learning.
Just some thoughts as I go through the new directory and wonder what's happened to some old colleagues I've known...
warmly, Adam
