Hi Connie, so what parts do you agree with and what do you disagree with?  This isn't just aimed at you, but your email reminded me that the issues in our field are often not very very clearly delineated. We need this kind of fine analysis, though, because in truth I don't always know exactly what we're talking about. If I can't actually picture the scene, it is very possible that the abstractions being used in the discussion are too general, lacking in adequate specificity.
       I remember hearing or reading someone refer to "factions" in our field, but the thing is that I haven't been able to pin anyone down as to identifying the issues. Sure, there are differences in style, but even there it isn't always easy to differentiate between a person's method and the director's personality. Yet such distinctions need to be drawn.

  I orginally asked this question of others in group talk last month and I am l seeing where this led! 

  Thank you all for your feedback!!!.  The reason I asked it is because it is a possible question on our TEP exam in America.  Even though I know the "right" answer there were parts I did not agree with and parts I agree with and also I did not feel that is what others are doing in their training groups on a conosistant basis.. I agree with many of you and it is nice to know so many of you have different thoughts.  This is a confusing issue and it is good to hear from people involved in all sides of the issue.

  It is hard to see the whole picture unless you get out of the frame.
