Hello Bud and all,
Bud, I think it's okay to promote our organization's buying into a business service that might be good for the organization and the field.
So I opened your message, went to the site, tried to parse the flurry of stimuli....not easy, because the main product they seem to be selling is music...
But I tried to translate it to what Bud was suggesting...
I think it's the idea that we have a little sales agency online.
What I don't get is that it seems as if we're getting a small cut of the sales price of (what used to be) records and cds, music. (I'm reminded of having to sell greeting cards door to door to win a premium, as advertised in a comic book. We buy $15 worth that we give the company, then sell them for $20, and keep the $5. The trouble was we as kids became tired selling and our folks ate the investment. Sigh.)
What's interesting is Bud's ideas that recordings---it used to be audiocassettes---of presentations would be sell-able. Maybe, and there were a few things at conferences, but, interestingly, in our business, so much of our presentations are experiential---which brings up the problem of confidentiality---and also the problems of recording as a group leader interacts and much of the action is different people's voices---who are not "miked" (i.e with a microphone)... well...
Also, the size of our group is small enough and the number of people likely to want to buy ... well, what?
Something audio or audio-video... the recording might be the biggest problem...
As it is, occasionally people do make a video or dvd--- more are happening, but still very few. And there is the old-fashioned "book" thing...But people can order most of the books from Amazon or directly from the book-seller.
I'm trying to warm-up to how this is a good deal. What, specifically, would be sold.
Do we have any reason to think that if ASGPP tried to sell its books via internet directly that they'd sell so many more? It seems to me that folks interested enough to do this are interested enough to google psychodrama or sociometry, find the ASGPP, and go right to Eduardo.
Well, maybe it's a good idea, but I'll need some selling to answer the questions I have above.
Bud wrote: As other organizations are doing,...
Which organizations? What are they selling? That might help.
BW: It would be so simple to have the ASGPP purchase a retail internet store, record the various things that are recordable with permission from the groups at the conference and then have them available nearly instantly for download from the ASGPP BURNLOUNGE.
ab: this is what I'm trying to picture, but it doesn't gel.
Any member could then join the business under the ASGPP and then as they profit in whatever way, the ASGPP does as well. And they can put their recommendations for specific sessions on their burnlounge while all of them would be available for download from anyone's site with people being able to refer to the program listing from the conference which could be archived on the ASGPP site. This would of course advertise for the ASGPP and allow for various people to sell their books and videos effectively as all media is doing to be sold over the next several years.
ab: as for selling books... I wonder how many people would go to this middleman or agency... versus using other types of publicity... especially as the medium itself seems to target a different kind of product. So who would go to this website?
Well, those are my tentative responses. Warmly, Adam

Dear People:
What I am about to propose, which is in my attachment, may seem self serving, and it is. It might even be considered a violation of list serve ethics which it may be. I am taking a chance and ask for your forbearance. This is such an opportunity for the ASGPP organization. It is also one for all of those doing this work who struggle to make it available to those who need it; in particular, those who do not have the funds to be able to participate regularly especially when scholarships are few and far between.
So if you think that any business proposition is improper to be placed on this list serve and do not want to be exposed to it feeling that it will compromise yourself, Please do not open the attachment. Thanks for all regardless, Bud Weiss
