Patti, good show---get the words directly!
Comments on Zerka's comments. generally i agree...
1. The printed program of the conference is mailed out too late. It arrived at my house a bare few months before the April date. The BPA, not endowed with any more funding than we, sends out their program 6 months ahead. Programs on the net are fine, but even if I'm old fashioned, I like to have it in hand.
AB: Yes, I've commented on this for several years. Folks need much much sooner notification!
(Alas, I've had even more egregious experiences with some of the international conferences. Some I hear about 6 months or more in advance, but some I hear about less than 3 months in advance, and by then I've generally made other commitments.)
Also, Get the news of the weekend dates out especially early, even before the program. They were pretty good about this in the last few years.
2. ztm: We need to look at our own sociometry and break up subgroups which dominate the scene.
ab: I wonder what this actually means in terms of specific actions?
3. ztm. Professionals need time to plan ahead. (ab: yes, my point above). Giving out dates and place at the conference is not enough;... our meetings is expensive. The rates for registration and workshops are high.
ab: interesting challenge. It's true, even more so now that I'm retired and on savings and social security...
4,ztm: We are not a centrally needed group for professionals to become licensed. People come because they want to be there and they have no outside financial support these days. ab: good point!
so, interesting. Warmly, Adam
