Playback and psychodrama workshop in Racine May 19+20

Lake House Health & Learning Center, Racine, Wis., presents a workshop
titled: Playback Theatre, Storytelling and More

 

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19   

9 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 

 

"Playback Theatre, Storytelling and More" with Sara Cutler of Playback
Wisconsin and Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP. Storytelling is as old
as history, always giving us the opportunity to deepen, heal and change.
In this workshop, we learn:

*	 How to use various techniques to increase the comfort level of
people both individually as they tell their stories in group or
individual settings. 
*	Using theatrical improvisation to discover the important "core"
of a story. 
*	Adapting skills to various settings, including drug and alcohol
treatment, theatre improvisation, education, group therapy and
psychoeducational groups -- according to the needs of the trainees. 
*	Increasing listening skills. 
*	Expanding your community-building repertoire. 
*	Introducing fun and movement to a variety of settings. 
*	Learning the difference between psychodrama and Playback
Theatre. 

The first day will focus mainly on Playback Theatre philosophy and
techniques, focusing on Playback as a derivative of psychodrama and how
professionals of various walks of life can employ these techniques and
philosophy. The second day, with Karen Carnabucci only, will focus on
additional action methods that aid storytelling including writing
warm-ups, other journaling techniques, non-verbal storytelling and
specific psychodramatic methods.

 

 Attend one or both days. Cost is $200 for both days, or $100 for first
day, $95 for optional second day. Includes handouts, CE hours and
healthy snacks. 

Please register with $75 deposit by May 16 to hold your space. Spaces
after that time cannot be guaranteed.

CE hours for social workers, addictions counselors and professional
counselors will be provided, as well as psychodrama hours toward
certification. Other professionals, including artists, theater
professionals, educators and attorneys are welcome.  Space is limited;
