Dear Colleagues,
On returning from the American Association for Theatre in Education annual meeting in Vancouver, BC (7/31 - 8/4/2007), I was impressed especially with the potential for inter-disciplinary synergy!
In addition to the more obviously related fields of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education, etc.:

There are a goodly number of people in the American Society for Group Psychotherapy and Psychodrama (ASGPP) [ http://www.asgpp.org ] ; the National Association of Drama Therapy ( www.nadt.org ) ; the other creative arts associations (music therapy, dance/movement therapy, art therapy, poetry therapy); the expressive arts therapies (who use combinations of creative arts therapy modalities) http://www.ieata.org/ ; who are interested not just in therapy per se---i.e., treating people who are identified as "sick," but equally or even more, offering tools and concepts for those who are normal, healthy---i.e., for personal growth, prevention, coaching, mental hygiene, education, business consultation, etc.
There are other organizations, also, who participate in the ideals of promoting spontaneity, vitality, and mental flexibility.

One field involves the challenge of social and emotional learning. http://www.casel.org/ and others.

Another field involves those who would promote the sense of personal meaning in life---more for adults.

          And there are others.

Indeed, I would appreciate your suggestions as to which other groups you think would share in this goal.
