Dear Ann(Hale)

I completely agree with you, we are a minority
(compared to Gestalt or other "new" not proved methods)
and we better stick to one another

Ann Hale writes:
"Adam Blatner likes to have us write stuff. We know that.
"Rosalie like to be the cheerleader occasionally.
"Grace will join in from a big picture frame.
"My [Ann Hale] contribution is often being sort of "preachy".
"Rebecca, "cuts to the chase" and gets us sharing more our resources.
"Cynthia can be counted on to write a thoughtful, cogent reply.

"We are getting to know one another
"and slowly others join in as time and issues permit.
"It is less isolating to write to one another this way.

"Our areas of application need to be diverse.
"What we write about can't help but be the same. '

As an oldtimer who has devoted her life to Psychodrama
and is still teachçong it at 88 and writing about it,
I would say that my contribution is to try to
make psychodrama "reespectable and respected"
as JL Moreno asked me to..
especially by becoming a University Professor
(JL said we need some, as we are too few
and by writing books and articles about psychodrama
translated in many countries -
and making psychodrama avaiblable for students
(in cheap popular paperback editions - - in many countries.
* James Sacs, our collective memory,
told /wrote me that I am one of the most edited and prolific
writer about psychodrama.

My last paperbacxk is from 2005, in French (bbut already in
translamtion )
(8 euros: 6 dollars only) for 492 pages , history and world litterature
"Le Psychodrame", Paris, Payot, pbp N°394 (paperback)

Our last collectove book is of July 2007
(in English)
"Psychodrama, advances in theory and technics,
edited by Clark Baim, Jorge Burgmeister and Manuela Maciel,
London, Routledge (with 21 co-authors]

But what I notice, is that grouptalk is more an exchange between
americans
than international - and that most psychodramatists
prefer talking with friends than buying books
and reading them -
or paying fees to become members of international associations
that support group psychotherapy and psychodrama

(I think of IAGP = Internattional Association of Group Psychotherapy,
founded by JL Moreno years ago ...

This is not a critic, sharing with friends and collegues is vital ...

I miss not shring more wityh you
(Rebecca is one of the few who writes to me sometimes)

So ..
So psychodrama has become a very minor group, even in USA -
and up to the point not to have been named as a usefull method
in the renewed annual book of essential psychotherapies
(even with all the wortk of Adam)

so, Dear Folks, Dear Psychodrama friends,
something should be done to remain in ...
by all of us
something more than just exchanges in grouptalk

(and Tom be blessed to have grouptalk still going on )

with warm feeling to all of you, dear psychodramlatists

& sorry not to have been able to make thjs shorter

Anne, 88, an old timer, in psychodrama since 1950

While it is certainly true there are psychodrama trained persons all
over the globe,
as a collective of professionals we are a minority.
People become attracted to the method, try it out, stick for awhile,
and then move on.
Then there are the few who have a deep and abiding attachment to the
method, the ideas, the philosophy and form the "tribe". We've decided
to be IN for the long term.

Grouptalk is a vehicle for helping us explore and support one
another. (minorities need that) I'd rather not see what we write
about limited. The question "what do the rest of you think" could
imply that a consensus ought to be sought and adhered to. Next we
would have a rule.

So...Ed has these topics he feels strongly about. Personally, I like
hearing about taking on big issues.
Adam Blatner likes to have us write stuff. We know that. Rosalie
like to be the cheerleader occasionally. Grace will join in from a
big picture frame.
My [Ann Hale] contribution is often being sort of "preachy".
Rebecca, "cuts to the chase" and gets us sharing more our resources.
Cynthia can be counted on to write a thoughtful, cogent reply.
We are getting to know one another and slowly others join in as time
and issues permit.
It is less isolating to write to one another this way.

Our areas of application need to be diverse.
What we write about can't help but be the same.
