They will have the opportunity to try on the roles of protagonist, auxiliary, group member and director. Group sociometry will be explored in action and sociometric interventions explained. Advanced students may have the opportunity to direct. Didactic sessions and thorough processing of the psychodramas will be included. Students at all levels of experience are welcomed. Special topics such as the use of psychodrama in individual therapy, action methods with children and adolescents, spontaneity training, working with resistance, sociodrama, the use of the body and working with trauma may be offered. There will be many opportunities for student directing.

Each will have the opportunity to be the protagonist in his or her own drama. There will be close to an hour devoted to processing each session with an emphasis on both theory and practice.

2008 Directing Cohort
with Rebecca Walters, MS, TEP
Dates to be determined
Highland, NY
The Directing Cohort meets three times over the course of a year, for 4-5 days at a time. We create a community of learners committed to personal and professional growth. The cohort provides a safe place in which to develop spontaneity in the role of director which includes being the producer, the social investigator, the group facilitator, the analyst/guide, the conflict manager, the sociometrist and more. You will be offered the chance to take a look at what you are doing that works well (and why it works!). We will also take a look at where you get stuck in the process of directing (and why you get stuck in that particular spot). As a group, we look at psychodrama theory and how it can inform our choices of action to further facilitate the drama. We provide a chance to hone your craft as well as a safe place to be protagonist in your own drama.
Prerequisite: 500 hours of training and at least one previous directing intensive at HVPI. It is also expected that you will have previously directed several full psychodramas or have permission of the trainer. More information.
