Writing from a sociometry perspective:
What impacts the choices we make, particularly for those persons to whom we wish to connect, and the myriad of decisions which prompt and define those choices, are the currents (I believe sentience was mentioned, thank you Patty) of harmonic and conflictual resonances. These resonances are embodied, and our spirit/soul choices know the presence of these resonances on a cellular level. These resonances inform our choices, reflecting mood before we can get to program. The desire for more harmony in life and in relationships is generally a decision we take when we need to replenish, reflect, duck all the focus we have had (and all the attendant responsibilities and expectations). It is a period of time where we also get ready to move out into leadership positions. This does not mean a permanent choice, or a choice across the board of our role repertoire. It is a choice taken to be congruent with our most authentic self.
The conflictual resonance emerges most often when we want to feel the energy associated with challenge, strong desire to act (advocacy) and commit and assert, despite convention and what Moreneans call the conserve. We want the edge, the fire in the belly, to have the spark of spontaneity come alive and effect dramatic change... both in us and around us...on out into the universe.
The more informed I am of the necessity for me (and others) to act, to contribute my voice the more attention I want to give to these resonances. And, the currents of worry, horror, deep fear, outrage, isolation and impotence become part of what flows around me. All this goes with me. When I teach, edit, direct psychodrama, respond to correspondence, write bills, make donations, think psychodramatically, these resonances are there and the knowledge of what is happening globally is part of the mix.
My contribution at the moment is editing the project books and facilitator's guide for the 4-H programs across the US designed to create earth stewardship and build skills for becoming activists.
The urgency that I believe Ed feels is all around us. It is catching. We can listen to our inner wisdom, and hold a place for the greatest good, consciously and offer outward as much as we are truly able to give. Who is it that wrote, there are no mistakes, only outcomes?
I still want "That all survive?" Ann E. Hale
