Dear Global Agents of Change,

We stand in a moment of great opportunity.  As the world grows toward a choice for breakdown or breakthrough, the rapid pace of change and challenge affects every system and every sector, from individual to global and beyond.  

Those of us who seek the transformation called for in these times can learn so much from each other when we come together to study, explore, exchange stories and strategies - and yes, to nourish one another, for being on the leading edge can sometimes be stressful, frustrating, or lonely. 

How to Change the World is a course and an adventure created to meet this need.  It is a container within which transformative change agents from all over the world, whether in person or through virtual communication, can be a very special learning community.  For a year, this container exists to welcome you into the safe space of discovery - discovery about the latest theories and practices of transformative leadership; discovery about your own growth as a change catalyst; discovery about new friends and colleagues everywhere who are aligned with your vision and your passion for a better world.  

The phrase 'learning community' suggests the excitement that comes from putting our hearts and minds together to open new pathways to wisdom and skill.   It suggests the profound joy that comes from experiencing ourselves and each other truly 'in this together:' interacting with authenticity, caring, and a shared commitment to our mutual growth. Finally, it suggests the opportunity to 'be the change we seek in the world,' individually and collectively.

How to Change the World is offered in four, 3-month terms, each one of which focuses on one of Four Wisdom Ways, areas of deep and emerging wisdom that can inform our activities as agents of transformative social change.  The first term, on Systems, the Way of the One, begins January 11, 2008.  During the three months, the learning community will experience:
  -- A four-day Intensive (for those in the Home Study program, who cannot attend the Intensives in person, an alternative set of activities and a 'buddy' will be provided);
  -- Two 2-week facilitated online dialogues on 'hot topics' that emerge during the Intensive;
  -- Four teleconferences/webinars with exciting Guest Faculty (recorded on the dedicated web site for those unable to participate at the specified time);
  -- Study materials, including reading selections, writing suggestions, and exercises that can be done on your own;

Power, the Way of Right Relationship is the focus of the second term (mid-April).
Transformation, the Way of Quantum Change is the focus of the third term (mid-July).
Cooperation, the Way of Creative Synergy is the focus of the fourth term (mid-October).
