2nd FEPTO Post Meeting Conference and 32nd Internationally contributed Congress of Group Psychotherapies: Social Cohesion

May 30- June 2, 2007, Pergamon (Bergama), Aesclepion, Izmir, Turkey

(These co events will be referred as “The Congress”)

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the FEPTO council and the organizing team from Turkey I am honored to invite to the Post Meeting Conference in Pergamon (Bergama) following the 15th FEPTO Annual Meeting in Alacati, Izmir, Turkey. This year Post Meeting Conference will be a combined part of a bigger event. We’ll call the co-events as “The Congress”. The Congress will be organized mainly for psychodrama trainees, trainers and PD practitioners. While Post Meeting Conference part is only for psychodramatists and psychodrama trainees, Group Psychotherapies Congress part is open to medical doctors, mental health professionals, social workers and psychotherapists from other modalities as well.

Just after this letter you’ll receive two other mails with attachments :

1) the 1 st Announcement and

2) information about Bergama, Aesclepion, Allianoi, Acropolis.

These are preliminary. We kindly ask you to wait for registration until you receive the 2nd Announcement. Because we’ll ask for group preferences during registration and these needs the whole program to be clear. You will receive the 2nd announcement including the whole program and detailed explanations about the Congress, until February 25, 2007. The announcement will be passed to you by e- mail, regular post and/or your training institute.

Congress Venue is the ancient healing centre Aesclepion, in the central part of Pergamon (Bergama). The Aesclepion was famous as a place where dead can not enter through its doors. A unique place in this world: the cradle and the centre of one of the most ancient healing traditions in the western culture dedicated to the God Aesclepius (Aesculapius) by the ancient Greek civilisation. It encompasses still today a huge area of monuments which gives a perfect insight into the different healing approaches used by the priests of Aesclepius, the Aesclepiades. There is a subterranean long rectangular room where ill people were invited to lay down on draw covered beds. The sound of running water emerged from little water channels on both sides. On the terrain roof of the room the Aesclepiades sat around open holes praying, burning good herbs playing soft music meanwhile ill people felt asleep in the semi-dark room below. This was the so called incubation of dreams technique. After the dreaming stage the ill people had to pass barefoot through a square of earth just to land or to ground themselves again. The Aesclepiades were going to decode the hidden message of the dream given by the God Aesclepius (or as we would say today by their co-unconsciousness. Today since 1984, we psychodramatists (the modern pursuers of Aesclepiades) meet each other every year in a congress co founded by Dr. Abdulkadir Ozbek and Dr. Grete Leutz.

The main venue of accommodations is Mysia Hotel in Dikili, about 24 Km. from Pergamon (Bergama) . In Mysia Single Room BB/PD is 40 € and Double Room BB/PD 60 € (See below the package program) Club Antur, Ummetoglu Hotel and pensions in the neighborhood may be used for accommodations also.
