The professional training that is next up at Lake House Feb. 16-18 will
focus on clients regarding the way we eat -- or overeat or under eat --
the way that disordered eating patterns and disordered relationships
with food are developed and how to work with clients who are
experiencing eating disorders on any level, as well as difficulities
with body image. I will be leading this workshop with Linda Ciotola, who
comes from Maryland and specalizes in working with individuals with
eating disorders. She has presented at the very well-respected Renfrew
Conference in Philadelphia several times, and people usually come away
from her workshops wanting more.
I'm proud to say that the workshop is supported by the Alex Devinny
Memorial Fund, in honor of a local young woman who died from
complications resulting from anorexia last year. See below for details.
A flyer is also attached that gives in-depth information about the two
days. Here are the details:
"Beyond the Silence and The Fury: Working with Eating Disorders in
Action" with Linda Ciotola, M.Ed., PAT, and Karen Carnabucci, LCSW, TEP,
at Lake House Health & Learning Center, 932 Lake Ave., Racine, Feb.
16-18. Eating disorders, as well as distress with body image of all
kinds, is rampant in our society as we increasely look to "consumpution"
as providing satisfaction. In this workshop, we will focus on how
experiential skills can address and heal eating disorders, including
those disorders that are a response to trauma, including the use of the
Body Double and Containing Double. As always, there will be the
opportunity to do personal work in addition to learning new methods to
integrate into your work. Tuition is $225, with CEUs and psychodrama
hours; three registrations in same envelope for $210 per person; partial
scholaships may be available for students. Space is limited; contact
Karen at (262) 633-2645 for information or to reserve your seat.
Hours are 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 9
a.m. to noon Sunday. We'll have handouts, healthy snacks, and CEU and
psychodrama credits.
This program will be helpful to: psychotherapists, psychologists,
licensed professional counselors, mental health professionals, massage
therapists and bodyworkers, nurses, physicians, school counselors,
addictions counselors, coaches, educators, health and wellness
professionals, and others who work with girls or women.
We now have access to a refrigerator and stove at Lake House. Please
bring a dish to pass for our lunch break -- more training hours, less
running around in the cold, more time together!
