I read the Zimerhoff and Hartman article on their web site (click on journal and scan down to towards the bottom.) It was a decent article and quoted a number of reputable authors in our field. There were a few things that gave me the idea that the person may have experienced psychodrama is settings which were more therapy oriented than training oriented. The article cautions against the director taking roles in the work, which might be something a person may do in one to one therapy where there are no auxiliaries available. Not a bad caution.
In the US the ABE certifies psychodrama practitioners and trainers; however, training programs can graduate students and there are no existing criteria which have endorsement of an external agency. The ASGPP asked in the early 1990's that criteria be generated for approval of training programs. )The idea was that the ASGPP wanted to identify training programs in their literature. Now you are listed if you buy an ad in the conference brochure.) The generation of criteria was accomplished, by a concerted effort of trainers, the Federation of Trainers and Training Programs in Psychodrama, and an amazing effort to reach consensus. It took two years. The end result was a three tiered process: (1) recognition as approved training program; (2) accreditation of training program; and (3) Excellence in training. The document arrived and was tabled. All that work scuttled.
I don't know if there still exists a copy, but it had the agreement of the Federation. It would help to have something like this in place in order to ask that people not graduate psychodramatists unless they have an accredited training program.

Adam,Rebecca,all,
This contingency is also showing up in the hypnotherapy community in Miss.
I have someone warming up to training that is being "certified " in HEART-CENTERED THERAPY. From my interviewing of this potential student, it is a section on psychodrama in the training of this concept. I will be surprised if Ms. Zimerhoff is registered student with a TEP. I will be interested in other's take on this.

Interesting for sure. I'm pretty new to Washington
state, but do not think I've heard of anything by this
name. I would want to talk with them, as those of us
who are trained and certified would want to discuss
the difference between a few workshops exposure to
psychodrama, and the training that goes into really
understanding the philosophy and process. Does John
Mosher know of this group? Georgia Rigg
