You know, Connie, I liked the slide show, and the song. From what I could get the first time, they were uplifting words, I think...
So that leads to an idea. I am reminded of a time when the words to songs were clearer, the background music was softer, and I could really make out the lyrics, hear the poetry. Since around 1978, the background / foreground ratio has increased so that it is most common that one cannot make out the words easily.
I'm always looking for relatively simple songs that may be silly, funny, inspirational, uplifting. Kids' songs, spiritually engaging songs, some pop songs. I need lyrics and a simple melody. The key is sing-able, sing-able for a sing-a-long!
The point is to empower people to sing a song, maybe learn a simple song. It's not to hear, to admire the skill of the performer, it's to participate, to become aware that one can sing. Even Winnie-the-Pooh (a bear of very little brain) could sing---and he even made up his own tunes!
I remember "The Rose" around 1981, but have not found many since then. Perhaps in your work and travels you have encountered some good songs, songs you can sing in the car or shower or share with some people.
If we can get some of those, maybe even a cassette or cd full, maybe we could sing them at an ASGPP song fest sometime.
I have lyrics to hundreds of such songs, and cassette tapes of some mixtures. Looking for others.
Tonya Quillen in Tampa, Florida, did a workshop at an ASGPP conference on inspirational songs---oh, about 8 years ago or so. Very nice!
It occurred to me that you may also attract such people to your circle of workers.
warmly, adam
