I am delighted to invite you personally to the next triennial Symposium of the Group Analytic Society. We meet in Dublin, Ireland, in August 2008. This is a good time for you to begin plans to attend yourself, and if you wish, also to submit your proposal ; see the website soon please, www.dublin-gas-symposium.com .

We hope it's also a good time to ask if you can please help us distribute this information to your own group psychotherapy networks? The website link (or an adobe attachment that I would be happy to send you on request) would be appropriate to post on your association website, on emailing networks to colleagues, and to anyone else who would like to participate in our open, enriching, and welcoming conference! As many of you know, the Symposium includes small and large groups, plenary speakers, and intercultural exchange that is impossible to duplicate elsewhere. DESPAIR, DIALOGUE, AND DESIRE: The transformative power of the analytic group in the movement from despair to desire through dialogue.

This symposium will explore the efficacy of group analysis in rekindling personal engagement in therapeutic work and in the broader
context of the social, cultural and political life of the community and its foundation matrix. It will include reference to literature, music
and the visual and performing arts. Despair and desire will be addressed theoretically and experientially with opportunities for learning
through dialogue in a variety of group settings.
