Writers Workshop Not Accepted --
The executive editors submitted a writers workshop proposal, based on the
writing model used at the 2007 ASGPP conference, to be presented at the
2008 ASGPP conference. We have heard positive comments on how the
workshop was received thus we submitted another proposal.
The conference committee informed us that the workshop was not accepted
due to lack of space. Last year we developed a writers circle made up of
persons who were interested in helping members write. The writers circle
is made up of professionals who are not part of the executive editorial
staff.
What is confuses us is writing for one's discipline is critical to keep
any professionalism in an acceptable light, both practical/applied and
research. By not having such a workshop limits us in a big way - we
cannot talk and discuss with members, writing difficulties and successes,
and as a result we handicap our membership thus demoting our discipline.
I had one of my workshops accepted yet i would be willing to give that
slot up for the writers workshop. [I think the writing workshop is more
important].
However, I would appreciate feedback from the listserv regarding their
impression of having or not having a writers workshop.
