Hello all, Emma Morley emmasmile at tiscali.co.uk is a drama therapy student working on a thesis based on the application of this approach in order to develop self-esteem and confidence with single/ young Mums.
If you have any experience in the area of her interest, I hope you will write to her and/or refer her to others or the relevant literature.
Emma writes: I am really intertested in issues of self-esteem and confidence as I feel that most clients will have self-esteem problems. I also feel that low self-esteem can have such a negative impact on someone's life, but is not always addressed until their problems and health deteriorate greatly. I am also aware with most therapeutic interventions that one of the aims is to increase self-esteem and cofidence, so I really want to have a thorough understanding of what consitutes well-being, confidence and self esteem, what impacts this, what postively develops this, possible effects on a person's life when suffering from low self-esteem and confidence and what practical positive interventions dramatherapy can offer a client. (I am aware that it is a huge subject and will have to limit myself!).
I am based in Somerset, England. The course is in Exeter Devon and at the moment is affilated with Plymouth University (but next year is changing to Worcester University but still based in Exeter and will be the same course.) It is a MA in Dramatherapy part-time over Three years. I am now in my third year which is the disseratation module. With the course we also have to complete 100 placement hours where we work with clients and 72 personal therpay hours, made of group and individual. We are also expected to have regular supervision to support us with our placements. The course leader is Sarah Scoble, Dramatherapy trainer is Mary Booker and external examiner Richard Hougham.
