The Midwest Training Series will begin its first official training of the season with "Are We Having Fun Yet? When Work Is Play" from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Lake House Health & Learning Center, 932 Lake Ave., Racine, with Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP, and Ron Anderson, LPC, CADC III, TEP.
Dr. J.L. Moreno, the "grandfather" of all modern experiential work who developed the method of psychodrama, wanted to be known as the physician who brought laughter back into psychiatry. In this training workshop, we explore the ways that action methods - including psychodrama, drama therapy and more - enhances the work of every professional and are adaptable to joyful and fun explorations of our experience in many other settings, including psychotherapy, personal growth, coaching, religious education, public school teaching, and other disciplines.
Tuition is $100 and will include certificate of attendance with seven continuing education hours for addiction counselors, social workers, and licensed counselors and psychodrama hours, as well as healthy snacks and handouts.
Trainees will learn:
§ Spontaneity theory and how spontaneity differs from impulsive behavior
§ Sociometric theory and the triadic system that begins with the warm-up process
§ Integrating fun, joy and creativity into the lives of people who have not learned how to have fun because of addiction, illness, family of origin patterns and other situations.
§ Preventing professional burnout by introducing fun and play into your own life.
§ Simple fun activities for a variety of groups.
The series runs from October through June and focuses on professional and personal development for professionals, including helping professionals, attorneys, educators and others. Trainees may attend one or all programs, with discounted rate, private consultation sessions and other advantages for those who sign up for series. If you are not a working professional but are interested in the personal growth aspect of this series, please call to discuss.
We recommend registration by Thursday, Oct. 18. Call (262) 633-2645 or reply to this e-mail or contact Karen at lakehousecenter at gmail.com <blocked::blocked::mailto:lakehousecenter at gmail.com> to register. See information on other program topics at www.lakehousecenter.com.
