Lake House Health & Learning Center, Racine, Wis., presents "What's On Your
Plate? Food, Feelings And You" on Saturday, April 26.
We all eat food, and we all have feelings. For many people food is more than
food - it carries deep symbolic significance that speaks of nurturing,
loving, parenting, sustenance and abundance. In this training, we will
explore how distress with body image is rampant in our society as we
increasingly look to "consumption" as providing satisfaction and control. We
will address the varieties of ways to creatively address the many varieties
of disordered eating.
Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP, will lead this workshop from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. with seven continuing education credits for social workers, licensed
professional counselors and addictions counselors and psychodrama hours. A
certificate will also be provided for other disciplines.
You will learn:
* The use of art to address unconscious connections with food,
feelings and personal history.
* How experiential skills can address and heal eating disorders.
* How to support safe expression of feelings without numbing with
food.
* How to develop empathy for our bodies.
* How to "feed the brain" with positive food choices.
* The trauma connection with eating disorders.
