This intensive will give advanced student directors the chance to explore these many functions. Each participant gets to direct a full two-hour psychodrama group including warm up, action and sharing. Each will have the opportunity to be the protagonist in his or her own drama. There will be close to an hour devoted to processing each session with an emphasis on both theory and practice.
For Certified Practitioners, trainers and advanced students. Register early! Directing Intensive is limited to 9 participants with a minimum of 450 hours of training and with previous psychodrama directing experience. More information.
Somatic Interventions
with Judy Swallow, MA, TEP, LCAT
May 9-10, 2008
Highland, NY
Our history is held in our bodies. Most of our stories are told with words, but there is another level; an unconscious story that is told through the movements, postures, gestures and holding patterns of the body. Through the use of imagery and body/mind awareness, you will be able to better listen to and understand what our bodies are trying to tell us. You will discover ways to help clients (and yourself) become aware of how our bodies inform our attitudes and decisions. In this highly experiential workshop you will learn ways to access stored somatic truth and uncover possibilities for expansion, change and healing. This workshop will teach psychophysical experiments to use with clients as well as somatic interventions for self-soothing and grounding. We will also practice specific psychodramatic techniques such as doubling, role reversal, maximizing and concretizing.
Please wear comfortable clothing that allows freedom of movement. Students at all levels of experience are welcomed. Overnight accommodations are available. More information.
June Psychodrama Intensive
with Judy Swallow, MA, LCAT, TEP; Rebecca Walters, MS, LCAT, LMHC, TEP; and Regina Peterson, LCSW, PAT
June 19-23, 2008
Highland, NY
During this highly experiential workshop participants will learn and practice the psychodramatic method, its structure, skills and techniques such as doubling, role reversal, concretization and warm ups, through structured exercises, vignettes and full psychodramas. Group members will have the opportunity to learn the "nuts and bolts" of directing psychodrama as they work on issues from their own lives in a safe and supportive environment. They will have the opportunity to try on the roles of protagonist, auxiliary, group member and director. Group sociometry will be explored in action and sociometric interventions explained. Advanced students may have the opportunity to direct. Didactic sessions and thorough processing of the psychodramas will be included. Students at all levels of experience are welcomed. Overnight accommodations are available. Space is limited and our intensives always sell out. Register early to avoid being closed out! More information.
