GRADUATE TRAINING/CONTINUING EDUCATION IN DRAMA THERAPY
KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY  SUMMER 2008
    Kansas State University is proud to announce our summer intensive training offerings 
for June 2008!   We continue our tradition of providing core alternative training courses 
along with advanced drama therapy electives at a reasonable price and in a reasonable time 
setting for alternative training students and allied professionals.  Room and board (or 
just room) is available through the KSU university housing.  This summer features two 3 
credit week-long courses and one weekend 1 credit course taught by experts in the field. 
Each three credit course meets on-site for one week with additional papers to be written 
and sent to instructors by the middle of July in order to receive full academic credit.

THTRE 630 Drama Therapy With Domestic Abuse
Survivors (1 credit)       Reference #90300
Dates & Times: Friday, June 6 (6 PM-10 PM), Saturday June 7 (9 AM-5 PM),
     Sunday, June 8, (9 AM-12 PM)
Location: Manhattan Community Building; 4th and Humbolt Avenue; Manhattan, KS (basement)
Course Description: The therapeutic uses of drama therapy with survivors of domestic 
abuse. This
course can be used for an advanced elective in the National Association for Drama 
Therapy's
Alternative Training Program or as partial credit toward Drama Therapy with Special 
Populations.

Location: Manhattan Christian College; 1415 Anderson Avenue, Manhattan, KS Course 
Description: Introduction to the field of drama therapy and the theories and principles 
involved in its practice.  Included in the course
will be an overview of the history of drama therapy, its sources in theatre and 
psychotherapy, and information on leading practitioners and their approaches/theories. 
The requirements for registry as a drama therapist
and typical sites for practice will be examined as well as basic ethical considerations 
for drama therapists.
