Dear Colleagues

The house of Moreno in Bad Voslau could be used for a Moreno Museum if we all agree end act in time, helping with some finantial amount from every psychodramatist or association in the world in the next few months.

Great Leutz and Michael Wieser have been very active on this project and we have decided that it would be a great opportunity to take advantage of the Psychodrama Section in the IAGP Barcelona Conference (Saturday at lunch time) to decide about this and other topics with the International Psychodrama Community.

Psychodrama Section can meet on Friday, February 29, from 13:30 to 14:30 and also on thursday or saturday if you think that it will be necessary.

I will copy down below the letter from Zerka Moreno and the proposal from Greta Leutz and any of you

may use this list to express their own opinion about this or any other projects that you would like to have discussed at this International Meeting. (a.s.a.p, please!)

Instead of dividing our efforts , lets put them all together!

Warmly and hope to have you (even if only by email) at the Psychodrama Section Meeting in Barcelona!

Dear Ladies,

That's a fine idea, bringing the needs for the Moreno House to the attention

of the participants at the Barcelona Conference.

Hope that somehow there will be enough contributions to the funding to

make it secure for the future.

Neither Moreno nor myself had much economic support for our various

undertakings. All the conferences, books, journals and other activities

to further his work and ideas were shouldered by ourselves.

Wishing you good luck and all the best,

Love, Zerka

Moreno House Project Bad Voeslau near Vienna

Provided the international psychodrama community is interested in maintaining Moreno’s beloved house with the plaque of 1968 stating: “Dr. Jacob L. Moreno, community physician of Bad Voeslau 1918 – 1925 developed here Sociometry, Group Psychotherapy, Psychodrama” as historic, symbolic and practical centre of the method, immediate joint action is required.

Description of site:

- The house located in the park like region between the renouned formerly imperial thermal bath, the nearby modern municipal wellness centre of 2005 and the city’s cultural centre overlooking the beautiful scenery between this place and Vienna may attract international and local psychodramatists for many reasons.

- The famous health resort Bad Voeslau offers best facilities for conferences, congresses, and due to the surrounding Wiener Wald Region and closeness of the international metropolis Vienna an excellent tourist site for vacations.

-As for Moreno’s 100th birthday the house is the unique place for the Moreno exhibition which at that time had been on display there and also in New York City.

- In addition the house can serve as an international centre where each national - and the international psychodrama association, as well as other derivates of the Moreno approach (e.g. Playback), will have the opportunity to present by documents and actions their history and present organisation.

State of the affaire

In 2005 (January) the mayor of Bad Voeslau regretting not to be able of purchasing the Moreno place, Maital 4, at that time (due to the expensive wellness centre project) non-the-less assured the visiting group of psychodramatists of the city’s considerable support of a Moreno Museum - provided it will come into existence - as well as of conferences and congresses in relation to it.

In 2005 (March) the owner of the Bad Voeslau Mineralwasser AG and of the Moreno place offered the house for purchase or an annual rent of € 6.000,--.

In 2008 the mayor and owner appear less interested, perhaps due to the fact that during the past three years only two 3-day-seminars and a one day psychodrama-event has taken place in Bad Voeslau and that during this time the uninhabited house has deteriorated to the point that the owner will dispose of it differently unless the psychodramatists come up with concrete options immediately.

Again I present my previous proposition for the Moreno House Project:

Each psychodrama association world wide, (which owns its existence to Moreno’s Triadic Method ), will transfer € 10,-- of the income received as membership fee from each of its members to the already existing account for preservation of the Moreno House. The amount

of the respective annual sum is to be confirmed in writing

On the basis of these reliable sums to be transferred to the Moreno-house-account, one can

open new negotiations with the mayor, the owner and eventual sponsors of the Moreno House to the point that

a) the city gets seriously interested in purchasing the house or investing into its renovation on the basis that

b) , each year the international psychodrama associations will transfer above mentioned annual amounts of money e.g. for the rent of the house and the left over money as a deposit for taking the house over in due time.

I believe this will get the approval of psychodramatists who so far don’t know of the project, its historic significance, present meaning, and future importance for growing recognition of our great method. And further,an add RE: Museum in the Vienna tourist information may interest others as well
