Excerpt from an email Grete Leutz wrote to a colleague in Italy, and it came to me through another colleague in Portugal... and it was meant to be circulated to friends of FEPTO)
Did you hear the sad news that, unless the psychodramatists will get active at once, the Moreno Hhouse will be taken down in three months. Perhaps you can spread the news in Italy, someone there may have a great idea. Marco Greco? Give him my best wihes for 2008, please, I don't have his mail address at hand.
Also Maurizio may be of help, in as much as the top colleagues of the IAGP board could organize an international psychodrama-congress immediately after the IAGP congress in Roma (or before) in Bad Voeslau. >From Rome to Vienna it is a hop and many from abroad or overseas may like to travel in Austria.. If they will plan a congress or big conference it immediately, IAGP should - most officially - contact the mayor of Bad Voeslau, Mr. Prinz, aksing for the facilities and mentioning they might come with 500 persons or so for a psychodrama congress, provided the Moreno house will be still there and clean enough (not renovated) to install the exhibition in the big room which had been there before, namely 1989 for the celebration of Moreno's 100 th birthday in 1989. Could you also advise all important Brasilian psychodramatists, Fonseca etc.? I know he is much interested in the museum. Needless to mention, I shall contact Manuela Maciel and Jorge Burmeister.
If the IAGP board will get encouraged from many sides, I am sure the psychodrama congress in the town of Moreno's inspiration will have a very good chance, of course on the basis of the Mayor's assurance that in 2009 the house will still be there.
The situation proves that - as I used to say - the money to buy the house is the least ( or rather last) important part of the project. During an almost two-hour conference with the mayor of Bad Voeslau and the cultural official (Michael Wieser and the two Barbaras from Vienna as well as three more male psychodramatists, two from Switzerland one from Austria, were also present) , the mayor assured us any support and I am still convinced by my impression of january 2005 that he was sincere. At that time the town had spent lots of money on the new wellness pavillon and hotel, (not far behind the Moreno House). For that reason, so the mayor said, the city could not buy it....at that time....But since then, three years have elapsed and the psychodramatic family had nothing happen there other than a visit of the FEPTO-people who stayed in Vienna instead of Voeslau, and a seminar run by Josseph Moreno and one by me. Could that convince the municipality to buy the old house ?!
Four to eight events a year (not necessarily psychodramatic, but in some relationship to Moreno, such as family therapy or so..., and the city would be keen to lure tourists to the lovely imperial resort Bad Voeslau with all its facilities for smaller congresses. And for tourists, Vienna is always worth a trip, 25 minutes by train to Voeslau - no distance !
I even think the Austrian psychodrama association would take pride in taking care of that historic treasure, if they would see international psychodramatists convening there .After all, Freud has a museum in Vienna, another one in London and a new one in the place he was born since 2006 !
