Hi Bud,
Yes, I read your post. A couple of comments: You wrote: I think Moreno understood this and did not have a good way to approach it despite his intention and genius. Many of us have attempted and continue to apply his methods in the school systems. While we have some sporadic success of some kind, much of the surge which occurred back in the late 50s early 60s has subsided though I wouldn't argue with Tom about it for long. I think we are fighting a kind of losing battle with these tools alone especially as most people are really not fully aware of how to use them well despite the attempts to standardise the training. Moreover, it is damn hard. . .
ab: Perhaps even those who you think do know how to use them well... and I wonder if there are any? Or who might agree...
perhaps we don't yet know how to use them, do it well, because what's needed is continuing development and inter-disciplinary synergy... the making of bridges with other groups that you hint at--- and others..
e.g. the networks who are promoting emotional intelligence. etc. various groups promoting creativity, creativity studies...
BW and most people are not interested in social change. Instead they are interested in making a living
ab: I think it unnecessary and misleading to impute the motivations of others... it leaves out the most obvious, which is that maybe they don't know---and maybe nobody really knows yet---how to make it all better.
The lack of progress in cancer cures may not be for lack of trying; and the reason our parents didn't do better was more often than not due to a lack of knowing how to do it better rather than for want of good intentions...
So I'm wary about that psychosocio-political tendency to devalue the intentions of those with whom we disagree...
And even much (but not all) of the rhetoric about oppression and the assumption that the oligarchy don't care about the peasants and workers.
Warmly, Adam
