Responding to this: "In the course of epic events, matter was distilled out of radiant energy, segregated into galaxies, collapsed into stars, fused into atoms, swirled into planets, spliced into molecules, captured into cells, mutated into species, compromised into thought, and cajoled into cultures. All of this (and much more) is what matter has done as systems upon systems of organization have emerged over thirteen billion years of creative natural history." — Loyal Rue, philosopher at Loyola College
AB: So what is Morenean about it?
And why is consciousness evolution "compromised" into thought (choice of words here... )
or "cajoled" into cultures?
It implies... what? thought is a compromise? What if it were not compromised... matter is compromised? funny word.. I don't mind poetic---some of those lines are neat--- but what are the implications?
If matter were not cajoled into cultures, but birthed into cultures... would that change the sense of the poem, and in what ways?
Finally, Ed finishes by saying, "very much Moreanean in my view."
AB: Really? Where did Moreno talk about cosmology in its physical form? Had he registered in his mind the theory of the Big Bang? I don't recall reading that---much less the "new story" of evolution and meaning that Brian Swimme and many others have been touting. I like this general story and its ideas... but why call it Morenian?
Oh, I can imagine one reason: Any poetic creation story could be imagined as being "morenian."
But when everything is covered in a category, then what is the value of that category or word? If Morenian refers to anything that resonates with the idea of creativity, ... it sort of implies that Moreno was the only one or the first one who thought of it (?). .. or why bring it up?
Warmly, Adam
