All cultures attach ritual significance to the passing of loved ones, and some cultures worship their ancestors ensure the ancestors' continued well-being and positive disposition towards the living and sometimes to ask for special favors or assistance. In this workshop, we will begin with the family tree and expand to the many ways that we can address issues relating to family and ancestors, both known and unknown, loved and unloved. We will also examine legacies given to us by those who are not family members but have influenced our growth, perspectives and wisdom.
Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP will instruct the workshop, "Celebrating Our Ancestors" from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 15, Lake House Health & Learning Center, 932 Lake Ave., Racine, with the assistance of guest presenter David Granados (Eight Eagles) who will conduct a traditional indigenous ceremony to recognize the ancestors. You will learn:
Multiple ways of addressing family relationships with genograms, social atoms and action sociograms.
Techniques for working with family photographs.

Indigenous traditions of venerating ancestors that can be translated into modern treatment and personal growth settings.
