Experiential methods are the preferred method of addressing substance abuse
and addictions of all kinds. This workshop will focus on developing
competence in understanding, assessing and treating multiple addictions.
There will be a mix of didactic presentations, small group discussions, and
experiential techniques. This workshop is designed for clinicians who work
with clients struggling with substance abuse, food and sugar addiction,
gambling problems, sexual addiction and/or anorexia, workaholism, financial
disorders, eating disorders, compulsive shopping, and other compulsive
behaviors, as well as any other professional who wants to learn more about
addiction.

Karen Carnabucci, MSS, LCSW, TEP, will lead this workshop from 9 a.m. to 5
p.m. Saturday, May 17, with seven continuing education credits for social
workers, licensed professional counselors and addictions counselors and
psychodrama hours. A certificate will also be provided for other
disciplines.
You will learn:
* Structured exercises in working with all levels of people in
recovery.
* Why action methods heal the brain and their why they are superior
to traditional talk therapy.
* Integrating the 12 Steps into action.
* Assessing and addressing relapse with interventions.
* Experiential techniques for grief work in recovery.
Tuition
Tuition is $100 for the day and includes healthy snacks, certificate of
attendance, CE hours and handouts. Lunch is on your own. Added value: the
first 10 people to register will receive a free copy of "Substance Abuse
Treatment For Persons With Co-Ocurring Disorders."

Pre-registration is recommended by Thursday prior to the weekend of the
training by sending the full tuition amount or deposit of $25 to Karen
Carnabucci at Lake House Health & Learning Center (address below) with your

but cannot guarantee - the addition of trainees after the pre-registration
date.

This professional training is appropriate for mental health professionals,
creative arts therapists, addiction counselors, educators, bodyworkers,
coaches, group leaders, religious education teachers, pastors, physicians,
nurse practitioners, helping and healing professionals, trainers, attorneys,
theater professionals, group leaders, social service professionals,
community activists, advanced students and others who work with people. The
training is experiential and didactic, and there is always the option of
addressing personal issues during the training program.
