Friends and Colleagues:

Please forward me attachments, links or leads to any and all research pertaining to the efficacy of any of the creative arts therapy modalities in specifically treating:PTSD, Depression and Substance Abuse Disorders. Please note for the purposes of this survey any other papers covering any other diagnoses will not be helpful. Peer reviewed published studies with control groups and human subject oversight and hard data would be best but any articles at all would be useful. MA thesis included.We are trying to make a case for the NYCDOH at add us to a list of providers treating 9-11 victims and their families. They told us they are willing to negotiate with us but they will be asked by the city to provide efficacy documentation. NYCDOH is a very conservative city agency who is careful scrutinized as to how the taxpayer's money is spent.. Qualitative and anecdotal research is not what they are looking for.

Looking at the larger picture of insurance third party reimbursement payment it will behoove us all to get involved in doing research which is going to be more and more necessary for our validation. They are simply not taking our word or indeed those of our clients as sufficient evidence that are disciplines are effective in treating specific illness. As a community it will be useful for us to rally around this point and support research whenever possible.
